Spiritual Companions, who listen to you, and help enable a discerning of God in one’s life as one shares on the experience of life and prayer can be one of the most important resources to faithful living.The leaflet ‘Choosing a Spiritual Guide’ is helpful in thinking about finding someone and can be found on the Retreat Association web site. Making Space

Retreats (particularly Individually Guided Retreats – IGR’s) provide a time away from home and work to stop and be still with God. Having a companion for just a few days on Retreat can be a great encouragement and support that feeds back into everyday life.

The Retreat Association www.retreats.org.uk publish a journal ‘Retreats’ each year (available in religious bookshops) which lists most of the retreats that are running. The list can be overwhelming and it is worth talking to others who have done retreats for their suggestions.

Whirlow Grange www.whirlowgrange.co.uk offers retreats each year – some particularly for those who have not been on retreat before.

Quiet Days offer another way of giving space for reflection and prayer. Again Whirlow Grange have a programme of Quiet Days through the year.
